According to Welcome to Yorkshire, the county boasts the most Michelin starred restaurants than any other county in the UK, outside London. Precisely six being secured in the recent release of the 2015 Michelin Guide.
I have set myself a small objective to visit each one of the Michelin Stars in Yorkshire and I will begin my quest to tick them all off the list. This journey will take place over several months. I hope you will get a flavour and taste of what a delicious journey lies ahead.

Yorkshire is home to some of the country’s best food producers, and for the county to have so many Michelin Star and Bib Gourmand restaurants is tremendous for tourism.”
What are Michelin Stars?
Michelin Stars are awarded annually for food excellence in restaurants, and highly coveted by many chefs in Europe.
Michelin stars are a feature of The Michelin Guide books which were first published in France by Andre Michelin, the then co-owner of the Michelin Tyre Company. In 1990 the first Guide listed a wealth of information for motorists which included where to find meals and accommodation and was aimed at motoring tourists on holiday in France.
Today, Michelin Stars are awarded sparingly to a small number of restaurants of outstanding quality. So we are lucky to have so many in Yorkshire.
There is also an additional category – Bib Gourmand – named after the ‘Michelin Man’ whose name is Bibendum.
As in the past, Michelin employ inspectors to anonymously visit and evaluate establishments. Their aim is to pick out consistently high-quality establishments across a range of cuisines, styles and budgets.
