Yorkshires Michelin Stars: 2021

It's really a gloomy time of year and going out to eat is not something we can do at the moment, being in the midst of Lockdown Number 3. But Michelin have just announced their awards for 2021.

That gives us all some cheer and a degree of uplift especially for the restaurant and fine dining industry.

Maybe it's a little early to plan some foodie outings...but we can day dream.

Some of Yorkshire's finest chefs have been among many to be served up some brilliant news today.

One of my favourites, The Black Swan at Oldstead was named among the first recipients of the Green Star for sustainability as well as retaining their well deserved One Star.

A new One Star, Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall near Ripon. I've had afternoon tea there but not had their fine dining, yet!

Tommy Banks of the Black Swan at Oldstead has a sister restaurant in York, Roots, and this is a new One Star for York. They are currently offering 'Fine Dining in a Box' so can't wait to have one delivered....be warned there is a waiting list!

The restaurants retaining their Michelin stars in 2021

The Angel at Hetton, near Skipton

Black Swan at Oldstead, tucked away on the North Yorkshire Moors. I've had lunch and dinner and you read about it all here.

Pipe and Glass at South Dalton on the East Yorkshire Wolds. I have only had one visit but so worth the drive, and here is my review.

Star Inn at Harome, near Helmsley. I've visited a couple of times and always impressed - here.

Another award from Michelin is called Bib Gourmand being a more recent development and are also awarded to excellent restaurants where the food is very good and at a very reasonable price.

Our Yorkshire Bib Gourmands for 2021 go to

Prashad at Drightlington, on the outskirts of Leeds, amazing North West Indian food. I wrote a review of my visit here.

Skosh in York, my very favourite place to eat in York. I had lunch a few weeks after Neil opened his new venture and just I knew then this restaurant was going places.

I don't know about you, but these new awards for 2021 give me some warmth in these anxious times, that hopefully in a few months I can get dates in my diary and eat out once again at the best places Yorkshire has to offer......and there are many more restaurants, cafes and delis to explore this year.

Just keep hope in your heart.
