Winter knits

With the arrival of colder weather, I've been cosying up with my knitting.

This December I have being knitting mittens and hopefully they will be keeping warm the hands of my friends well into Januarys frosty days.

I have loved going through patterns for mittens in an old collection that was my Mums. I played around with some ideas with different textures and yarns that I have in my stash, from double knitting wools to some squishy baby alpaca.

We all need our fingers to be free to respond to our obsession to use our mobile phones when out and about. So, after trial and error I tested and have now written up a pattern for fingerless mittens.

Here it is for you to enjoy going into January.

Meanwhile I'll go back to practising stranded colourwork…also known as fairisle!

This year has brought such heartbreak and hardship to so many, so here's my simple wish for you:
Despite all is not as planned, may you find some small and peaceful pleasures in knitting.
